3.LEHARFEST
Within the framework of the small project, a two-day cultural festival entitled the “3rd International Operetta Festival” was held in the birthplace of Franz Lehár, in Komárno. The aim of the event, organised by the Franz Lehár Civic Association (Komárno) and its Hungarian partners – Reformkori Hagyományőrzők Társasága Balatonfüred, Komárom Környéki Civil Társulás, A Klasszikus Magyar Operettért Alapítvány, Szőnyi Kulturális Egyesület, and Canzonetta Nőikar Egyesület – was to promote the operetta genre and to strengthen cross-border cultural cooperation between Hungarian and Slovak partners. Over the two days, programmes were held at several locations across the city, including operetta concerts, operetta performances for children, exhibitions and lectures on operetta and musicals, as well as community activities and public roundtable discussions. Cross-border partners were actively involved in the project, contributing performances, presentations, and professional collaboration to the programme’s success. The festival held special significance as the programmes also honoured the 200th anniversary of Mór Jókai’s birth, centring the event around two prominent figures of the local cultural heritage. Approximately 2,000 visitors attended the festival, including local residents, visitors from the region, and cross-border participants.
