Svätoštefanské dni (St. Stephen’s Days)

The project, building on the long-standing traditions associated with the celebration of Saint Stephen’s Day, represented an important event of both cultural and historical significance in the Slovak and Hungarian border regions. Its aim was to preserve shared cultural values, strengthen community life, and develop cross-border cooperation between the town of Veľký Meder and the municipality of Ábrahámhegy.

The programme included festive Saint Stephen’s Day events, a cooking competition, wreath-laying ceremonies, folklore performances, and a community discussion entitled “Civic Life in the European Union”. The event, which reached approximately 6,000 visitors, contributed to the presentation of traditions, the strengthening of community relations, and the deepening of cross-border partnership.
