Folklór bez hraníc (Folklore without Borders)
The aim of the small project „Folklór bez hraníc“ (Folklore Without Borders) was to bring the shared
traditions of the inhabitants of the two countries closer through culture, folklore and joint events, and
to strengthen long-term cooperation between the towns of Nové Zámky (SK) and Fonyód (HU). The
small project was implemented within the framework of the 31st Festival of Children’s Folklore
Ensembles in Nové Zámky and a Harvest Festival. The programme series included a historical
exhibition and a rich folklore programme with the participation of Hungarian and Slovak children’s
and adult ensembles. Special elements included a harvest parade in traditional costumes, a dance
house on the main square and a professional forum focusing on the preservation of traditional folk
culture. The project involved more than 80 active participants and attracted a total of approximately
3,000 visitors. It significantly contributed to the deepening of cross-border relations, the cultural
education of the younger generation and the preservation of folklore as living cultural heritage.
