TOPtheaterfestival

The “TOP Theater Festival” took place in the municipality of Topoľníky; as a unique cultural event, it combined theatre arts, music, visual arts, and civic dialogue with the aim of strengthening Slovak–Hungarian cross-border relations. The small-scale project was based on the long-term partnership between the Slovak NGO organization Svet kultúry o.z. and the Hungarian Rátonyi Róbert Foundation, embodying their shared commitment to culture, international dialogue, and the preservation of cross-border cultural heritage.

During the one-day festival, a tree-planting ceremony entitled “Theatre and Friendship Tree” was held, alongside presentations by partner organisations, professional lectures and workshops, discussions on operetta and theatre history, a children’s drawing exhibition, and an evening concert, culminating with a performance of the operetta The Csárdás Princess.

In total, approximately 880 visitors attended the festival. The small project strengthened cross-border partnerships, promoted cultural dialogue. The festival became a living example of how culture connects people across borders, building strong bridges between communities and nations.
