950 rokov (950 Years)

On the occasion of the 950th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Bešeňov, a two-day small project was implemented with the main aim of revitalising community life and strengthening cross-border relations with the Hungarian municipalities of Bokod and Csolnok. The event opened with the exhibition “Border Treasures,” where visitors could explore handicrafts, cultural heritage, and local specialties, followed by an evening concert and disco to close the first day.

The second day featured a traditional goulash cooking competition, a thematic forum titled “Tracing Our Past, Envisioning Our Future,” and an exchange of experiences among the partner organisations. In the afternoon, local and cross-border folklore and traditional music groups performed, and the evening programme concluded with concerts by popular bands. Approximately 900 visitors attended the programmes over the two days.

Through this project, Bešeňov not only celebrated its 950th anniversary in a fitting manner but also reinforced cross-border connections, promoted cultural exchange, created new partnerships, and strengthened community cohesion in the region.
